About

Steinbeis-Innovationszentrum Zellkulturtechnik

The Steinbeis-Innovationszentrum Zellkulturtechnik (SIZ) is part of Steinbeis gGmbH and operates as a private research institute at the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences. Our work focuses on the development of cell-based fluorescence assays using genetically encoded biosensors and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) transfection technologies. We have extensive expertise in LNP production, cell line development, and the design of advanced cell-based assays. SIZ serves as a key interface between academic research and industrial applications in biotechnology.

In close collaboration with CHESS Chemical Development and Synthesis Service GmbH (CHESS), we are developing novel LNP formulations for the efficient delivery of RNA therapeutics into a wide range of cell types. CHESS contributes its expertise in the synthesis of specialized lipids, which complements our capabilities in LNP formulation, production, and characterization. Together, SIZ and CHESS offer customized lipid nanoparticle kits and development services, including the application-specific optimization of EUFECT® technology.
